‘Light is the harbinger of joy, prosperity and eternal bliss of the soul!’ From darkness to the Light that empowers us to commit ourselves to good deeds, that which brings us closer to divinity; lights illuminate every corner of India during Diwali, and the scent of incense sticks hang in the air, mingled with joy, togetherness and hope. A special assembly was conducted at Shemford Futuristic K-12 School, Auraiya on 'DIWALI' by students of Class IV and V. The students heralded the festival of lights, Diwali, by presenting a cultural extravaganza with a lot of joy and enthusiasm wherein the students set the mood of festivity by invoking the blessings of the almighty by chanting hymns. All the students pledged to celebrate the festival in its true spirit i.e. by lighting earthen lamps and not bursting crackers to keep the planet Earth clean and pollution-free. It was followed by melodious songs celebrating the spirit and joy of Diwali festival. A powerful message of dire consequences of adding to the pollution of the environment by bursting crackers was brilliantly staged as well. The celebration also included role-play of the characters of Ramayana unfolding the mythological tale of Diwali while highlighting some beliefs and customs associated with it. To unleash the creativity, a plethora of art activities were also conducted, including Thali decoration, earthen lamp painting and eco-rangoli making. The students participated enthusiastically in all the activities. The Principal, Ms Meenakshi Narula, appreciated the efforts of the teachers and students in presenting the special assembly and urged the students to celebrate Diwali in an eco-friendly manner. She also talked about being kind to all the beings on the special occasion of 'World Kindness Day' and motivated the students to follow 5 R's religiously in order to have a sustainable environment. The Chairman, Mr Anil Hada, wished all the students, staff and parents a very Happy and Prosperous Diwali.
