We simply must balance our demand for energy with our rapidly shrinking resources. By acting now, we can control our future instead of letting the future control us. – Jimmy Carter
The Science Department conducted a special assembly on National Energy Conservation Day on Dec 14, 2020, to raise awareness about the importance of energy-conversation and energy-efficiency and frugality in energy use, and to achieve the ultimate aim of sustainability of global eco-systems.
The assembly began with chanting hymns to seek blessings of the Almighty for peace in the world. The same was followed by 'Powerpoint Presentations' on Sustainable Development Goal #7 'Affordable and Clean Energy' by the Senior Wing. The students from the Middle Wing presented thought-provoking posters on Energy Conservation and suggested several ways to conserve energy.
The tiny tots from the Primary Wing created toys under the project 'Trash to Treasure' during their Art Classes, thus suggesting ways to reuse waste materials. They also made lovely door hangers as reminders to turn off electrical appliances when not in use.
A story session was also held on 'Save Energy' emphasising on the simple steps to be followed for the achievement of SDG #7. During regular QCT sessions, all the students conducted an electricity consumption check and learnt how to read the electricity bill as an Art Integrated Activity during their Maths classes.
The Principal, Ms Meenakshi Narula, interacted with the students about various forms of energy and acquainted them with essentials of energy conservation. She stressed on the fact that energy conservation should be a part of our behaviour to achieve SDGs 2030.
